Re: Hy-Rail speed limit?

Reminds me of the time back in the early seventies, when me and a vendor-contractor (that I was supposed to escort) were late gettin' out of the way of the first commute of the morning. So we sped along in our old rickety hy-rail pickup at full tilt (about 45mph). Mind you, the maximum was supposed to be 25mph for that equipment - Said so right on the dashboard. But hell - we were later than late and had a ways to go to a set off point.
Well, when we got there, the train was waiting at the pad. We lifted the front hy-rail wheels by the light of his headlight, then the back. But just as we began to move off the rail, the whole kit'n'kaboodle fell apart - in a million pieces - all over the track.
Not only had to remove all that junk off the track, but had to dis-connect pieces still dangling from the pickup before we could move further. About a 30 minute delay. Never did that again!
And it wasn't just because they read me the riot act (in writing), that I never did it again!
