A news article reports a poll saying that 49% of Bay Area residents want to leave California.
Quote:
In February, the Chicago-based PR firm Edelman surveyed 1,500 Californians, including 500 Bay Area residents, to gauge their opinions about California and their level of trust in and satisfaction with the tech industry in particular.
The results reflected widespread disgruntlement, mistrust, and alienation.
...
Of the 500 Bay Area residents polled, 49 percent agree with the statement “I am considering moving away from California because of the high cost of living.” Statewide, 58 percent of Millennials and 65 percent of parents echoed the sentiment.
Let's talk about the connection between transit and the housing crisis that is making so many people unhappy.
In the past, Bay Area residents were against expansion BART into Marin. They were also against a MUNI subway along Geary. I believe they feared those projects would ruin the area.
Well here we are in the present and lo-and-behold the area is ruined and unlivable. And it had nothing to do with building out transit.
But did those anti-transit people have it 100% backwards? If there was more transit built out would the Bay Area be much more livable and affordable today?
