SP signal bridge questions

The photos below are from a 2014 blog post ( [position-light.blogspot.com] ).

It looks like he is shooting pics from the back of the California Zephyr.

In the first pic below, I am just curious why are signals placed more-or-less over the right-hand track. I take it the green signal is for the left hand track. Was it just SP practice so that the person sitting on right had a better view of the signals? I am accustomed to CB&Q signal bridges where the signals were right above the track they governed.

In the next photo below, I take it this signal governs the left hand track.

The photo caption also says something about "reverse" automatic block signalling. Does anyone know what that is about?
