> Wow! I had no idea about post 1982 activity via Cannon... So UP still had customers to Vacaville, Fairfield and Libfarm that late!
Not that late because these lines were embargoed in the 1970s.
> The Montezuma Wind turbines were trucked from West Sac on the Yolo (exSN) to Montezuma area hills, because track between Rio Vista Junction and Cannon needed work. Maybe BAERA lost an opportunity to make some income here...
These would not have generated enough revenue to justify fixing the track.
> I have also heard BAERA wants to restore track north from RVJ to Cordero Junction and the Amtrak Station. Talk about $$$.
Not feasible because the trestle at Dozier needs rebuilding and it's over a protected slough. There's also the expense of extensive tie replacement between RVJ and Cannon, particularly Dozier - Cannon. They're already having difficulties with the electrified line to Molena and Montezuma (electrification adn tie replacement not completed yet).
> Can BAERA haul freight if they provide sufficient industrial development or does UP hold freight rights?
No and no. BAERA has already turned down freight serivce between Cannon and Atlas -- has to do with FRA regulatory complications and justifying the costs of rebuilding the line between Cannon and Atlas(and that trestle).
