My comments about pasting in the photo URL were assuming that one is using Posting.org (or another site that provides pre-formatted links).
Note that the AP Message compose toolbar has an "Insert Image URL" button that adds codes to a URL if you use the button. If you wish to link to an image that isn't hosted at a "photo host" that specifically generates pref-formatted links for using photos, then you need to use the AP "Insert Image URL" button to add the appropriate codes.
For instance, if I were to do a 'right click' on a photo at a newspaper site, one of the 'right click' options is likely something like "Copy Image URL". If you choose that, then resulting URL needs to be bracketed by .[IMG] [/IMG]. to tell the AP software to display that line as an image.
The "Insert Image URL" button can be used to add those IMG codes, or one can just type the codes by hand.
It gets easier the more you do it.
Please Note: I placed a "." bracketing the pair of IMG codes above to force the codes to be visible in the text. Without the 'period' adjacent to the code, the forum software may interpret those codes as control characters and not display them. In normal use the IMG codes would be bracketed with a blank space, not a period. And the square brackets are required as shown.
A bit complicated, at least til you understand how to deal with all the variations. That is why Postimg.org is very useful, because they provide pre-formatted links.
