You are a great editor. And, the last I knew, this site is your free "press", and this is still America, and not Russia. So, at least until the Soviet takeover is completed, it is your right to publish, and this law, as written would be unconstitutional.

We don't need a "nanny state" law like this to protect us from "fake news" or even foreign "propaganda".

What we do need, as citizens of a free nation, is the good sense to be vigilant of such BS, regardless of source, including "targeted" BS spoon fed to jerk us off, or otherwise manipulate us.

We need to learn to be more skeptical, and ask ourselves if something makes sense, is it sourced, is it credible, is there a logic, or is it just click bait, appealing to or exploiting our "likes" or "dislikes", our emotions, fears, biases, or general ignorance with a lot of well crafted and deliberately targeted BS. Check stuff out. Is it too good to be true, or just plain bat $hit crazy, you're not actually required to believe it......

We need a more vigilant and diverse media to identify and expose such tactics. We need some of these slimy "social media", or other data mining scam companies, that are more interested in serving their clients needs, than serving their clients to data miners as the "product" to be manipulated.

We need a free and diverse media, so maybe we should stop allowing so many competition reducing media mergers, which concentrate significant market shares and tremendous media influence in too few hands, as they've done in Russia.

We need election laws that would require that "commercial" (paid) political speech is identified as such, and who is paying for it, including even "paid" troll bait from hired troll farms, so that we as "consumers" know what we are seeing, and who is paying for us to see it, to better assess the real intentions and purpose of such communications, when we are deciding how to vote.

We need a national intelligence capability that identifies foreign inputs of propaganda to influence our political processes or otherwise manipulate American policies, that identifies the sources, informs the public what is being done and who is behind it, and if it involves illegal foreign participation or funding of our domestic political activities, then cut them off, block them.

None of those things will be accomplished by this dubious Soviet style proposal.

And, if this passes, wouldn't the CHSRA have to stop issuing most of their "rosy" press releases on their website?
