Also, some may not know that what also comes out of the stack is the exhaust STEAM from the cylinders. That steam, under lower pressure, is what causes the draft for the fire to burn hot enough to make all that steam in the first place. Upon initial start-up, a forced draft blower is used to provide the air, if natural draft is not enough. Probably everyone here knows this, but just in case they don't --.
