A few years ago, I was privileged to ride on the PV Virginia City, formerly owned by Beebe and Clegg. It was a wonderful ride from Emeryville to Reno and back. It cost me a pretty penny but was well worth the expense. If Amtrak now forbids those rides (for a pretty penny to them), it's a short-sighted policy.
