We could save literally billions of gallons of water if we instituited serious water conservation. example; water fountains on upper floors of office towers should be piped so that overflow is directed to be used to flush toilets on lower floors rather than straight to the sewer. There are many other changes which would help us make better use of what we have. It is worth noting that in electrical usage CA has pushed conservation so well that we are in the bottom per capita usage of the US. Within the next several years, as LEDs replace fluorescents, LPS, HPS, and incandescents, usage will drop further freeing up electricity for more cars. and trains.
