Preserving & moving a 1901 Pullman parlor car

The Northwest Railway Museum is undertaking the preservation and move of a 1901 Pullman parlor car from a beach on Puget Sound. The project hired a house moving company to perform the move; the car's truss rods were removed in 1941 when it was moved onto the beach. The car will be rolled onto a barge at high tide, and will make its way up to the Museum in Snoqualmie later in May.

This car is remarkably complete. Retired in 1941, it has two doors cut in the side and one vestibule was "rebuilt" but otherwise it remains complete and intact. Those involved in preservation will almost certainly know how rare this opportunity is - Museums are usually offered cars that are barely recognizable for what they were.

Check out recent progress on the Museum's blog: Parlor car move

We would be honored to have your support for this unusual project and cordially invite you to schedule a contribution for Give Big in May: Seattle Give Big 2018
