There was a big outfit towards the east end of Sausalito, American Distillery. It burned to the ground in the late 50s or early 60s and was never rebuilt. I thought that was the end of any booze outfit. The "barge" slip was filled with that old ferry boat for years and the track ended back towards a freight dock . A train would have to pull by, then shove across the highway. There were 2 wig-wags that stood there for years, even after service ended. I think any barge connection ended many years before that. Tiburon was the only way to get any cars in after the tunnel burned in the 60s.
That only left Schoonmaker as the only shipper on the line. The tunnel was only walking speed or cars would lean and hit the timbers. Without and reliable service they quit using the railroad.
