High Flyer.
The homeward-bound Lodi Flyer has just cleared the expansive bend that constitutes Leonardini Curve, now trundling geographic west by indolent farm equipment. Closing in on the Cherryland Avenue grade crossing, Central California Traction Company 1501 has greatly reduced its speed from a swift twenty-five miles per hour to an easy tempo of twelve.
CCT’s fourteen mile active mainline from Stockton to Lodi is listed as FRA Class 2 track. While the entire system is capable of sustaining speeds up to twenty-five, four miles of the subdivision between Mormon Yard and Lane is perpetually marked as restricted, mainly due to the fact that the branch line perambulates through intense urban sprawl.
