It's called the the safety card. SP had it in the 70's when i worked out of Oakland.It works something like this. If your unproductive , have an attitude toward management,or you just don't seem to fit in ,they will find you doing something they deem unsafe ( while other employees do it daily) and use your percieved unsafe practices as a ruse to get rid of you. It's common now in construction too with big outfits like Peter Kiewit.
