NO. The Rock out of Tucumcari, New Mexico on the K.C. Main was "FAST" in the day. SP perishable traffic going EASTWARD with Southern California pig traffic and dead freight moved right along with WESTWARD Gold Streak traffic with Advance Gold Streak traffic then the short lived Mail Train "GSX" that I worked a few times on the "SP", the speed recorder was at 70 to 80MPH most of the time not bad and that was with Rick Island power. Then I was told by old head Dalhart, TX. Rock crews about there 4-8-4's in the day could run with any western road 4-8-4's back in the day.
