I get Astronomy, Trains, and MR from Kalmbach, which is a publishing house in business to make enough money to stay in business. There are two ways for a magazine to make money, subscribers, and advertisers.
Two of the three Kalmbach publications I get still seem to have a lot of advertisers, probably because they have a lot more subscribers, from advertisers who have more paraphernalia to sell, and thus are able to publish more "useful" content.
Alas, with so many of you "dropping out", it results in less money, to buy or put out more stories and pictures. I also think there are many interesting RR travel stories, historical events, RR business stories, and general RR news to report that could help keep or generate more readers, in what is an aging demographic.
Also, Trains probably needs to do something to replace al of you old geezer's with a younger demographic, if they plan to stay in business much longer. So more coverage of urban transit, the history of rail in our great cities, urban and IC passenger systems, both here and abroad, and wonderful rail adventure opportunities, both here and abroad, might attract a younger demographic.
The more the world changes, the more us old farts whine about it......
