The lack of traffic has to do with zone pricing by UP. Even though it is only a few miles from San Jose to Felton by highway, the cars had to go via Watsonville which is in another zone. Since the lumber company has a facility in San Jose it is cheaper to receive the product there and truck it to Felton.
