And despite those trains having been removed, the world has not come to an end; the good residents along that line haven't been deprived of intercity transportation; no city has become a ghost town owing to the lack of the Amtrak platform; no person has died or been otherwise inconvenienced because they couldn't travel because they refused to ride a bus or a plane.
Phoenix is growing and is popular. Boise is becoming a new "hip" city to attract people priced out of the Sea-Tac and Portland metro regions. Las Vegas is still as popular as ever and growing. Clearly, the lack of Amtrak service since 1997 has had zero negative impact on those cities.
