Question for you - is part the difference between "visionary" solutions and solutions derived from good research and analysis a desire on the part of entities to use the transportation system as a means of driving goals in other areas, such as urban planning? I have often thought that many transit systems are built not to move people from where they are to where they want to go, as much as they are built to create growth patterns and drive development to targeted areas.
