Anderson's been quite clear: no detours or reroutes. The train ends at KC and *maybe* starts up again someplace past the NM tracks where BNSF has PTC, with a bus between. Which is obviously preliminary to "nobody rides it any more" and a complete train-off, very soon. First of the major long-distance trains to bite the dust in this round, but won't be the last. NM doesn't have the money for PTC - the TIGER money was for simply fixing the tracks.

Wasn't the Chief one of the long-distance trains that, if accounting were done properly, nearly if not actually made money?
