I will be travelling east from Sacramento in a few months and want to stay on the pass. I would appreciate suggestions on places to stay. I want to stay near the tracks where I can watch/hear the trains pass. Also have a beer parlor nearby! I have stayed at the Best Western in west Tehachapi and that was perfect. Colfax or Truckee seem likely but I have stayed at neither. I would also consider a motel in a smaller place if it is by the tracks. I thank you for you time in offering suggestions.
