There is one that (I think) Amtrak used for awhile and then abandoned in favor of an adjacent shelter. I assume that one was the old D&RGW depot. However, just east of that building is another with a big "Union Station" sign on the top. Can anyone tell me the story behind these two structures? D&RGW was the only game in town, yes?
Why were there two stations?

Happy Anniversary, White River Junction. It seems that you had the same question a year ago.
Passenger Stations in Grand Junction, Colorado

I was on the Amtrak California Zephyr in July. I saw that there are two (out-of-use) passenger stations right next to each other on the UP (DRGW) main line. Why are there two? And is one called "Union Station"? I thought the D&RGW was the only game in town. [
