Who needs to do stupid (origin and) "destination studies"....?
Certainly not idiots like you..... since you have informed us unequivocally that surface traffic all surface traffic from LA to SF uses Tejon and Altamont, right? And, so how many trips is that a day? And, with a HSR fare 3 times the cost per mile as Amtrak fares, how many of those folks would pay that price to ride? No need for stupid studies.....right?
It's always nice when the choice you give us in your very best arguments, is the one between "tweedle dumb" and "tweeedle dumber".....
Do we have any observed deficiency of capacity in air service between the end points to justify the costs of this boondoggle? Haven't we observed on rail systems all over the world, and especially in the US and the CA corridors, that the mid-short distance IC city pairs generate way more traffic into and out of the major centers, than to and from end points, and isn't that really 90% of our highway traffic coming over Tejon and Altamont?
So, as usual, your comments has nothing whatsoever to do with the need to properly do professional planning or analysis. And so, isn't this really just another of your usual ignorant, disingenuous, and utterly meaningless gainsaying arguments about this fiasco.
