I remember long ago when I lived near a BART station and was using bike (remember the old bike permits that were once required?), while I was putting the bike in the paid area, about 6 young peeps came barging thru the service gate almost knocking me down. The station agent yell at them and told me "I have to go through this crap all day."

The procedure of taking your bike was show the agent your bike permit, take the bike through the service gate, walk back out and process your ticket, grab and go.
