Lot of good posts here; thank you BOB2 and Sgt. Joe.

I know that tunneling from Lang to the SF Valley would save some time, but I would hate to see development in the still somewhat-pristine Lake View Terrace area.

I also wonder if curve realignment between Acton and Via Princessa and then between Mojave and Tehachapi (if practical -- maybe what we have now is "as good as it gets" without big spending) would help running time. I think passenger rail could definitely highball from Lancaster northward.


P.S. Perris/215 corridor and the 15 corridor. I would imagine that modern technology could make a reconnected California Southern ROW less susceptible to flooding. If only we weren't spending all this money on HSR; BOB2 and Sgt. Joe have identified several better options in a few paragraphs.
