Seems our culture is loosing the ability to effectively and rationally communicate with each other. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that so much of our interpersonal communication isn't "personal" (face to face) anymore. Its so much easier to be an ass when the person you're being an ass to isn't right in front of you.
A lot of people have no idea how to approach something without being an officious ass. Even when they may have valid points to make their delivery immediately puts people off and therefore accomplishes nothing.
And whatever happened to the adage "just because you CAN do something doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD"? Also goes along with "if you don't have something meaningful and constructive to say, how about just don't say anything"?
Last one: "Choose your battles". So many people seem have no mechanism for determining which battles they should fight and which they should let go. So often major battles erupt over silly details while truly major issues go unaddressed.
This is not just an issue in the RR museum/preservation world - just look at our country's political situation. I don't know how it will ever get resolved unless we unplug everyone from "social media" and make them actually talk to and deal with each other IN PERSON again. This is going to be the undoing of us all.
