My daughter lives off Golf Course and crosses this intersection all the time. It is a very dangerous one, especially eastbound. 2 busy roads closely paralleling the tracks and right up against the 101 viaduct. We were surprised it was a pedestrian death and not auto.

How much faster could a streetcar(say the Siemens, what, SD70?)stop than SMART's heavy doodlebugs? I do not have the answer but I think it is a fair one for Northbay residents to ask SMART since the latter insisted on retaining freight and buying heavy FRA diesel mechanical DMU's instead of going to urban transit electric light rail.

With 2 man operation SMART might as well have done loco-hauled with horns blaring loud enough to wake up Doug Bosco as it passes in the vicinity of the PD.
