Caltrain electrification certainly would not exist without CAHSR having been invited into the Peninsula and to use the Caltrain ROW. And very likely without the money and state political clout of CAHSR, Caltrain would not even exist today. BART-MTC, SPUR, PB,Hemminger, Kopp, Dahms et al had been machinating for decades to replace Caltrain with 5'6" and were closing in for the kill when the CAHSR deus ex machina popped up.
