I don't believe that any tunnels on Donner employ a fan type of ventilation system, but rely on natural winds to expunge smoke.
However, there was a tunnel curtain that was installed at the east end of tunnel #28 and the west end of tunnel #41. It would only employ (drop down) when a train's speed dropped. The idea was to pressurize the tunnel to keep fresh air available to avoid trains stalling in the those tunnels. The tunnel curtain system was deactivated and removed sometime in the early 1980s, but the metal housing is still in place at Applegate.
