My understanding is that trains 11 and 14 are operating at each end of the route with a bus bridge between Klamath Falls and Sacramento. Because the normal bus bridge route is also in the fire zone, they are taking a longer, and very congested route themselves, resulting in the long delays.
Unfortunately, because it is very hard to bus private rail cars around out-of-service track (:-), LA rail has two cars stuck in Seattle, and the Last trip of the California Zephyrs to Seattle and then on to their new owners in Chicago (which I was booked on a portion there of) has been cancelled. Current hope is to reopen the line to the Coast Starlight on Monday the 10th, but that depends on what the fire is doing by then. Meanwhile the LA rail folks sit in Seattle, and the original California Zephyr cars are going by way of the Southwest Chief to Chicago.
Of course, all of this is somewhat dwarfed by all the damage to forest and property being done by the fire...
