There really WAS a grade crossing collision that resulted in significant damage to the SMART train in June.

For still unknown reasons, the driver of a box truck smashed through rail crossing arms last Thursday and his vehicle was hit by a Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit train on Todd Road near Santa Rosa. It was all caught on video.

Damage to the train is estimated to be “hundreds of thousands” of dollars, said Farhad Mansourian, adding that it would take several months before it is repaired, tested and put back into service.
