I know that, everybody on here, knows that.....good footage, too.
People in cars and trucks do stupid things with the choo-choo videos are very popular, and I'm only sorry the really awful ones get pulled off of the internet so fast, as those ought to be mandatory viewing for those ticketed for running gates.
I've worked on enforcement "economics" in highway safety, I am all for a minimum $1000 fine for these kind of gate running violations. I would post that fine at the RR crossings like we did with the carpool violation signs, and probably watch the violation rate fall by about 60% or 70%. Some folks might call that kind of reduction through "full information" the "gulp" effect, in modern experimental behavioral economics. That's when you see that information about the fine posted, and you take a big "gulp", and say to yourself, that's a lot of money, I ain't doing that....
I worked, and still occasionally work, in world where people paid me to look for real solutions to real problems. So I may have a slightly different, more straight forward analytical approach to these things, than those who might attach more significance to more arcane, sinister, or mystical forces that they believe are at work in these things.
But, you see, in a world dominated by vast evil conspiracies involving SMART/BART/Bechdel/NWP/MTC/LA Times/Ft. Tejon Ranch/Jerry Brown/The Terminator/Elvis/Mother Teresa/Space Aliens/and the ever nefarious PB, all working in cahoots with each other, they could have paid the driver, to run the gates on purpose...
In that world....anything is possible....
