As I said, "feel good" legislation, pandering to fearmongering by nimby "know-nothings" and "true believers" who believe we should wear "hair shirts" and go "cold turkey" to wean ourselves of fossil fuels.

The folks who think this way may be "self serving" hypocrites (so-called "nimbys"), or think they are "well meaning" (self styled "environmentalists"). But, they believe that we should do this, either to protect their "exclusive elitist" "backyard", or "save the planet", regardless of the potential "blowback" from social, economic, or political dislocation, this might cause. And, there are also those that "believe" we should go "cold turkey" on fossil fuels, without regard to other more prudent and/or even more effective alternative's to reduce things like GHG's.

I have seen the science on some of the threats we are facing and CO2 level increases are real, and temperature increase worldwide is real, and the physics of this are real. And, I know that it correlates pretty well with burning a lot of geological carbon deposits, laid down back in the Permian era.

So, I am not opposed to doing some things to cut the current level of excess carbon emissions. The global heating will, and is now, beginning to cause serious problems, which will continue for generations to come. But, this kind of "feel good" legislation and political pandering is not what is going to "save the planet", nor will it properly fund incident response for public safety from hazardous material spills, regardless of mode. Because it's bull$#it!
