I'm skeptical about Victorville ever being a successful endpoint, but the press release says that they are working to extend it into the LA basin. It reads like that would be well before CAHSR eventually reaches LA and provides an LA-Palmdale link. Bundled with LA County's interest (which seem to including willingness to commit funds) in upgrading Metrolink's service to Lancaster, perhaps this could provide enough synergy to get more CAHSR funds allocated/diverted to the Palmdale-LA sooner than currently planned.

Or it might ultimately end up being Brightline's version of Autotrain's Louisville expansion.
