If they are going to use 4.5% grades and mostly highway ROW on Victorville-Vegas, then why not extend to San Bernardino from Victorville? Grades and row were the previous big hurdles for bridging that gap. Vegas-SB-Fullerton-LA would be closer to and faster for a bigger population base than via Palmdale. The high Desert corridor could be served as a segment of the Metrolink AV line.
