Given the development of battery technology, I also wonder about battery operation, not now but perhaps 10 years from now.
Meanwhile, BOB2's list of higher priorities makes sense to me. (I would add, in the case of SMART, extending to the ferry by building a bridge across Sir Francis Drake and the ferry parking lot. This would have much more benefit than electrification.)
