LAUS Run-Through or Metrolink RER?

A modest proposal I came across today suggests that we might want to consider a much bolder scheme than adding run-through tracks to Union Station.

The map below is slightly different from the blog post and attempts to preserve a stop at LAUS (which even now, I want to call LAUPT).
