Re: UP tracks, highway, buried utilities at risk from 'mobile' geyser in Imperial County CA
This looks like the place, after considerable wandering through web search hits: [
www.google.com]
UP has built a shoofly around the main tracks, which (like the highway, apparently, in the Google satellite pic) are sinking as the "geyser" (really, a hot spring related to a field of mud pots & mud volcanoes just to the north) expands. This does look like, eventually, it will require reconstruction of some kind (a bridge with very deep foundations, below the water source) for both the rr and the highway.
One of several thermal spring and mudpot/volcano areas in the Imperial Valley.
