"Committee Chairman John Thune, R-S.D., asked Batory if any lines would cease operations if PTC were not installed by the deadline.

“There will not be any cessation of service unless that carrier elects to do it itself,” Batory said. “The FRA does not have the ability to impose that type of action after 12 31.”

You know, Amtrak could still do it....
