Back around 1990 my wife and I rented a caboose on the spring wildflower train that ran to the north. It was a fun ride and my non-railfan friends had a great time. There were two cabooses you could rent along with other cars for other riders. The train was packed. I've been amazed that they dumped that operation. It seemed to be a good money maker. It was from that ride that I pushed for the PLA to get a caboose rental operation going in Niles Canyon.
