That's a really sad story. While the later commission is probably right that the house would have been a questionable fit for something meant to resemble "old LA" it certainly, after all the money spent on it, deserve to be abandoned in a vacant piece of old railroad yard and left to disintegrate. Of course, that was before "This Old House" and the trend toward refurbing older stuff.
