Ed, Thanks for the info. About three years ago we went from Caliente to Carp, the road to Elgin had been repaired with road closed signs removed. The gate at Carp was open and looked like it had not been closed in years. Google Earthed the road pretty close and only saw one closed gate with bypass. It looks to be open but could be signs Google will not pick up.
I think when in Caliente we need to go to the BLM and ask what they know, plan to be there in three week. Tried the county sheriff deputy in Caliente, he had no idea, nice guy, just no help. The former shop area in Caliente is now well posted NO TRESPASSING.
