Think back to when you could ride the SN from Key Pier to Sacto and back for $1 plus a 25 cent pink parlor car ticket...each way...thumping off the Ramon and rumbling along the long trestles of the duck hunting marshes...then watching Mt Diablo start to shrink from your happy perch of #2's, the Comet Moraga's open platform ..then clattering past Montezuma's cattle ramp whipping at 60 per thru Molina and up around the curves to Garfield's fields of poppies before stopping at Rio Vista Jct where a quaint bus waited by the small station that stood alone on the prarie.. It was exciting, memorable..
Happily, WRM has preserved a peek at what countless people enjoyed back to over 100 years ago. Wouldn't that be basically a prime reason for folks today to enjoy a sample of an all too brief but not so real experience..because of its careful - slow - speed repeat of the golden era of the SN's wonderful every day glory days ...
