The SP built the Redwood City depot in 1901-1902.

According to SP depot researcher Henry Bender, the depot was moved to the other side of the tracks, turned 180 degrees and covered with stucco all in 1937.

An August 1979 arson fire damaged the depot (mostly evident from a partially-charred roof, according to Bender) and the SP razed the building later that year.
