Why in hell would one want to blow billions on a backwoods freight route(i.e. Mojave-Tehachapi)and not build it freight compatible when it parallels an obsolete but important freight alignment, i.e. the Loop line?

Cut the gradients to 2% and forget about a few extra minutes. Look at all the minutes you have added with the Detour instead of Tejon.
