To produce a precise difference you would need to have the detailed alignments in hand. That is probably fairly close in the case of PB's choice for Tehachapi but for Tejon you would need a politically salable set of "alternatives" studied. My take is that some important tunnels will be required in the Sta. Clarita area to quiet the restless natives.

I am also suggesting that the savings from the shorter Tejon route would allow for "baksheesh" civil works upgrades from Sta. Clarita to Burbank. In other words you could put together a Tejon-Grapevine route that would be hella fast.

I visualize Bako as a spur and the real north south speedway west of I-5. Eventually.
