All this shows is that restoration projects, whether it be a locomotive passenger car or caboose, are not always easy and have all sorts of issues to overcome on the way to completing of the project and nothing more. I think having those restoration issues out in the open and shared is not a negative towards those hard working people who undertook the project. There is no reason to hide those set backs that every project like the Skookum has it is just part of the process and does not damage the egos or reputations of those doing the work. But it should show an openness on what it takes to accomplish these projects and opens dialog for similar projects to learn from. And hopefully an education and knowledge for those who sit on the siding and want every locomotive running so they can take a picture of it.
Also I have not seen any mention of any thank you to those individuals who originally went into the woods and saved the engine and moved it out of their own expense, most who have pasted on now. And to the museum who stored and kept the locomotive kit together for four decades at no cost to the owners that allowed this unique engine to be restored today.
So thank you also
