A couple of weeks back, the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, OR hosted a pair of photo charters organized by Lerro Productions, Inc. of Glenolden, PA. The charters were supposed to feature a recently restored 2-4-4-2 articulated locomotive called "Skookum", but she developed some technical issues and was unable to participate, except for some static shots under steam. Fortunately, the two other logging engines which were also slated to perform were available, and the charters proceeded in what was some of the nicest weather I've ever experienced in the Pacific Northwest. With McCloud #25 (2-6-2) and Polson Logging Co. #2 (2-8-2) alternating hauling mixed freight and log trains, scenes were staged at various scenic spots from Tillamook to Wheeler. The result was some very pretty photographs, including sunrise and sunset shots. I was amazed at the take.
For those who are interested, here's an album of some of the best of the OCSR. Included at the end are some moody, rainy shots from the Salmonberry area, taken on another Lerro Charter back in 2014. If you've not been up there, this is a very nice operation. Once Skookum is running, it should be even more interesting.
