Yeah, we need more fire resistant homes, and new standards are in place. And, many of the houses that burned in the 50 mile per hour winds of the fire storms that blew up, were very well built and well cleared.
The real problem comes from the lack of rain, as the entire west, and particularly the SW US now has up to 25% less rain, over the last 25 years, with much less rain and snow, especially in the period of March through May. This is why they had raging fires in places like Redding and Durango, in June and the early summer....not August or September.
So, in addition to more fire resistant homes, from central Oregon down to southern Colorado, where this new much longer "summer", and long term "permanent" drought has become the new "average" rainfall condition, the Durango and Silverton is even using the #18 to test a more "fire resistant" steam engine, and will likely be converting to oil.
The hate filled losers (I really think it is probably the same loser trolling under multiple handles) who are trolling this topic this morning don't really care about facts, any more than they care about trains.
