Where in Russia or the "Republics" does/did the peoples "Daylight" run.
The scene of the diesel smoke when it's pulling out of the siding is going to make Hutchies day.
I've often wondered if, like in many countries, Russia, or any of the former "Republics" of the workers paradise, they've done much preservation and/or museum/tourist lines (ala OERM, the feuding cousins in the Bay area, Rio Vista, the good folks up in Inyo County, Roaring Camp, Durango....), and are there any "Short Line Sammies and/or IPH's (or anywhere along that on that spectrum competence)operating any RU shortlines?'s
If there is a source on this, it would be interesting... I still have my copies of Janes Railways from the early 80's, when the Soviet Union was still making Alco RS WWII lend-lease (the program to ship war aid like trucks, jeeps, even choo-choo's to Russian, Britain, and other Allied nations by the US for those who were educated after about 1980) Alco "knock-offs", and advertising them for export to mostly third world RR's.
