Ganz Mavag was one of the first major east block rail manufacturers to try to enter the US market, back in 1983, with a large booth at the Mass Transit Show and Conference at the LA Convention Center. They had giant blow ups of Buda and Pest's extensive LRT system, with their products crossing the bridges.

I believe it was a Czech firm (Tatra IIRC) though, who finally sold some streetcars and/or core components for assembly, into the US market, after the Cold War ended.
